New Mural At Midland Gate
Midland Gate recently commissioned local mural artist JD Penangke to complete two murals reflecting the local indigenous community on the side panels of the escalator leading up to the first level at the Valley Girl entry.
Jade provided a design for each side with her rationale for each below:
The blue mural is a birds eye view of the river created by the Waugal (Rainbow Serpent) and symbols representing the journey of a leader. The Swan region is known as the home of some Noongar leaders so this mural focuses on leadership in more of a traditional style of painting.
The orange mural is an eye level perspective of Whadjuk country with our vibrant bush tucker and bush medicines featuring the Waugal’s body moving through the land.
The mural is a wonderful addition to the Midland Gate centre and we hope you take the time to see it on your next visit.
